Series: Breakthrough                                         Topic: Mountain Breaker

Three broad responses to mountains:

i. Turn back
ii. Freeze/Stand still and stare at it
iii. Breakthrough (overcome) your mountain

“The land we explored is very good. 8 If the LORD is pleased with us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us. This is a land flowing with milk and honey! 9 Don’t rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. We will devour them like bread. They have no protection, and the LORD is with us. So don’t be afraid of them.” (Numbers 14:7-9)

6 Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. 7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” 8 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. 10 For whoever has despised the day of small things shall rejoice, and shall see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. (Zechariah 4:6-10)

POINTS TO RECALL:
1. Don’t face the mountain in your strength
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

2. You can surmount your mountain regardless of its size
Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. (Zechariah 4:7)

3. Breakthrough mountains by speaking God’s word
Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. (Zechariah 4:7-9)

19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel. (John 5:19-20)

He [Jesus] said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
