Storms of life

35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm  arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him , “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind  and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:35-41)

REMINDER ON STORMS OF LIFE:

  1. God wants you to get to the other side

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” (Mark 4:35)

  1. Storms are invisible forces opposed to God’s will for your life

And a great windstorm  arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. (Mark 4:37)

  1. God cares deeply about you

38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him , “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind  and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  (Mark 4:38-39)

30 Having determined our destiny ahead of time, he called us to himself and transferred his perfect righteousness to everyone he called. And those who possess his perfect righteousness he co-glorified with his Son! 31 So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? 32 For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give. (Romans 8:30-32, TPT)

  1. Pray…, don’t lose heart

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.” (Luke 18:1)

  1. Take authority over storms in Jesus’ name

39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind  and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  (Mark 4:39)

i. Rebuke the wind[Jesus] awoke and rebuked the wind.

ii. Declare your desired outcomeand Jesus] said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
